The capital club will need to find a suitable successor if the French striker departs in order to compete
Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain is presently debating whether or not to speak with Al-Hilal about a potential transfer that would set a global record. The dominant Saudi Pro League team is offering the French champions $332 million as well as a salary package worth up to $776 million for the 24-year-old to sign for as little as a year. While Real Madrid will always be Mbappe’s top aim, the French sensation will have a difficult 2023–24 season if he stays at PSG. The Ligue 1 champions are eager to accept Al-Hilal’s offer should Mbappe find it acceptable, but now that he is available, there may be competition for his services. Given how prolific Mbappe has been since joining PSG from Monaco, the club would need a fresh supply of goals should he leave Parc des Princes.
We consider some of those prospective names to plug the gap, including:
Rasmus Hojlund
PSG is also very interested in the sensational Atalanta player, while Manchester United are currently leading the race. Hojlund, who is only 20 years old, is quickly becoming a major target for European teams, and it has been suggested that his price might reach $100 million. His statistics are not yet as impressive as some of the other names on this list, nor are they as striking as Mbappe’s were prior to moving from Monaco to Les Parisiens. Given Hojlund’s relative inexperience compared to the majority of the other players, it wouldn’t be shocking if PSG moved for another additional attacking skill.
Jonathan David
The Canadian international scored 25 goals and added four assists domestically in 2022–23 while playing for Lille. David, who is still only 23 years old, has been linked to moves away from Les Dogues for a while, but none have taken place since LOSC wants $65 million for their star striker. Given that he assisted in bringing the former Gent player to Stade Pierre Mauroy back in 2020, PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos is well acquainted with the player. The hotshot from Brooklyn might not be the capital club’s first pick, but his profile might be worth taking into account.
Randal Kolo Muani
The France international who had a breakthrough season with Eintracht Frankfurt and represented Les Bleus at the FIFA 2022 World Cup is another attacker PSG is familiar with from their time in Ligue 1. Kolo Muani, 24, had 16 goals and 11 assists in his own country last season, so it was no surprise that Bundesliga powerhouses like Bayern Munich were interested in signing him. However, the Frenchman’s quick rise in Germany has not gone unnoticed at home, and if a $100 million bid comes in at Deutsche Bank Park, the Parisian talent may take Mbappe’s position in the PSG assault as a fellow Bondy-born superstar.
Harry Kane
The name of the Tottenham Hotspur talisman is arguably the most well-known one among strikers on the summer transfer market. Kane, 29, scored 31 goals for a Spurs team that was unable to advance to the UEFA competition this season. Over the past few years, the captain of the England national team has frequently been connected with moves away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the case that he needs to transfer somewhere to win championships is stronger than ever. There is no assurance that Kane will see the potential for the success he desires in a move to Paris, since PSG are not exactly a regular when it comes to winning titles outside of France.
Dusan Vlahovic
The Serbian international, who joined Juventus just a year ago but is already on the market, may be the most practical alternative for PSG right now. The 23-year-old Vlahovic is not currently succeeding in Turin, and the Italian giants’ domestic decline could result in high-profile casualties, with the former Fiorentina player and another ex-Viola talent in Federico Chiesa being the most likely sources of quick money. Vlahovic’s probable arrival has already faced opposition from PSG’s fan base, and he lacks the impressive career stats of players like Kane or David.
Goncalo Ramos
At that asking price for Vlahovic, PSG might be better suited looking in Portugal, where Campos’ talent scouting network might prove useful in locating Benfica’s most recent and prolific attacking talent. Since Darwin Nunez left for Liverpool, Ramos, 22, has exploded into the scene and flourished. He came within three goals of Porto’s Mehdi Taremi for the Portuguese top-flight scoring title. It is not surprising that PSG would choose to sign the Portugal international for more than $80 million regardless of Mbappe given his 26 goals and three assists in his first two significant seasons at the senior level.
Victor Osimhen
If Mbappe were to leave this summer, PSG would undoubtedly have a lot of cash on hand. Because Aurelio De Laurentiis, the manager of the Italian club, has already stated that only the French giants could afford him, the Nigerian international from Napoli enters the picture in that situation. Although Osimhen would probably cost more than $200 million to acquire, the 26-goal Serie A Capocanonniere from Napoli’s most recent championship would set Les Parisiens back much more than $100 million. It’s possible that Campos may go for more economical choices to make the greatest use of the Mbappe riches given that PSG is interested in Bernardo Silva to increase creativity as well.
